The Holy Spirit has raised in the \nNeocatechumenal Way various modalities of evangelization, of apostolic \nmission and of consecration, which have been confirmed and promoted by \nvarious Popes of the Church.<\/p>\n\n

Parish community of communities<\/h3>\n\n
<\/div>\n\n

After the announcement of the \nKerygma, communities are born in the parish, brothers who live this \nChristian initiation. Progressively, among them begin to appear \nthe signs of faith, unity and love for the enemy. This moral miracle will call those \nwho are far away to encounter Jesus Christ. The Christian community \nwill bring the love of God to all men.<\/p>\n\n

“You not only do the apostolate by being what you are, with an incitement to rediscover and recover the true, authentic and effective Christian values, \nthat otherwise could remain almost diluted in ordinary \n life. No! You put them in evidence, you make them emerge, and \n you give them a truly exemplary moral splendor because, well, with \nthis Christian spirit, you live this Neocatechumenal community …<\/p>\n\n

How much joy and how much hope you give us with \nyour presence and your activity! We know that in your \ncommunities you work together to understand and develop the riches \nof your Baptism and the consequences of your belonging to Christ …<\/p>\n\n

Living and promoting this awakening is what you call a form of “post-Baptism” that can renew in today’s Christian communities the effects of maturity and deepening that were happening in the early Church in the period of \npreparation for Baptism …<\/p>\n\n

“The praxis and norms of the Church have introduced \nthe sacred custom of conferring baptism to newborns, concentrating in the baptismal rite its preparation that, in the early days, when society was deeply pagan, preceded baptism, and it was called the catechumenate. But in \ntoday’s social environment, this method needs to be integrated with an \ninstruction, by an initiation to the Christian’s lifestyle, \nfollowing the baptism, that is, of a religious assistance, of a \npractical training to Christian fidelity, of an effective \ninsertion into the community of believers, which is the Church …<\/p>\n\n

Here is the rebirth of the name “catechumenate”, \nthat certainly does not want to invalidate or diminish the importance of \ncurrent baptismal teaching, but wants to apply it with a method \nof gradual and intensive evangelization, which reminds and renews in a way of the catechumenate of other times. Those who have been baptized need \nto understand, rethink, and appreciate, to support the priceless gift of \nthe sacrament they have received.”<\/p>\n\n

Itinerant-Catechists<\/h3>\n\n
<\/div>\n\n

One of the \nmain charisms or fruits of the Way is that of itinerant-catechists. Thanks to them, it has spread across the five \ncontinents. The international responsible team of the Way establish teams of itinerant-catechists – which are usually made up of \na priest, a married couple and a celibate\/single person; or a priest, a celibate\/single man and a celibate\/single woman- to be sent to the nations to initiate and guide the \nrealization of the Neocatechumenal Way.<\/p>\n\n

The itinerants respond to the requests of distant dioceses: the \ninternational team invites the brothers of the Way to \noffer themselves to be available to be sent anywhere in the world, and \nthose who feel called by God do so freely.<\/p>\n\n

The itinerants receive this mission in convivences and, in them, the team responsible for the Way, or another indicated, checks the availability and coordinates the activity of the \nitinerants in a \u201csystole and diastole\u201d dynamic according to the example \nof the Lord, who sent his apostles on mission and then gathered them together, \nin a secluded place, to hear the wonders that the Holy Spirit \nperformed with them.<\/p>\n\n

The itinerant-catechist remains attached to \ntheir parish and community, to which they return regularly to participate \nin the Way in the same manner as before. In addition, the itinerant-catechist agrees to live \ntheir mission in precariousness, remaining free to interrupt it at any \nmoment, informing the Bishop ad quem<\/em> and the team responsible for the Way.<\/p>\n\n

Missionary charisms and consecrated life<\/h3>\n\n
<\/div>\n\n

In the \nvarious forms of evangelization carried out by the Way, \nthe presence of celibate men and women with missionary \nvocations is necessary to sustain, accompany and evangelize both in the missio ad gentes<\/em> and \nitinerant-catechist teams, and in the seminaries and \nparishes. Therefore the men and women who, living this itinerary of faith, feel this call from God to give their lives to the New Evangelization, are sent out in international convivences.<\/p>\n\n

In addition, since the beginning of the Neocatechumenal \nWay, hundreds of girls starting this Christian \ninitiation have felt the vocation to the consecrated life and have entered \nin different monasteries around the world. <\/p>\n\n

Diocesan-missionary Seminaries Redemptoris Mater<\/h3>\n\n
<\/div>\n\n

On the 26th of \nAugust,1986, St. John Paul II enthusiastically welcomed the proposal of \nKiko, Carmen and Father Mario to institute a Diocesan Missionary seminary in Rome \nfor the formation of priests for the New \nEvangelization and commissioned Cardinal Ugo Poletti, Vicar of His \nHoliness, to erect it.<\/p>\n\n

Since \n then, 122 seminars have been erected, which have 3 fundamental \ncharacteristics: they are diocesan, missionary and international. Within the \nacademic, human and spiritual formation of these seminaries, there \nis a period of missionary evangelization, and once ordained \npriests – after a few years of working in parishes – the \ndiocesan bishop may allow them to leave the diocese to serve in the various \nmission modalities carried out by the Neocatechumenal Way, according to \nwhat is established and approved by the Vatican in the Statutes.<\/p>\n\n

The seminary is erected by the bishop \nof the diocese and welcomes young men who have discovered the vocation thanks to \nthe neocatechumenal itinerary of Christian initiation. In the seminary, the \nChristian formation through the Neocatechumenal Way in a community is \na distinct and basic element of the formation course.<\/p>\n\n

In the years following, numerous bishops have followed the example of the Holy Father by opening other seminaries.<\/p>\n\n

Since 1990, the year of the first \nordinations, up until today, the priests ordained in these \nRedemptoris Mater seminaries are about 2,380. Currently, there are 2,300 \n young men that are preparing for the sacred ordination.<\/p>\n\n
