Korazim, March 24-29, 2008<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

From March 24 to 29, a gathering of 200 bishops and 9 Cardinals from Europe took place at the Domus Galilaeae.<\/em> \nThe secretary of state on behalf of the Pope has sent the participants a telegram that we publish below:<\/em><\/p>\n\n

“On the occasion of the gathering at Domus \nGalilaeae promoted by the Neocatechumenal Way on the subject of \nNew Evangelization on the European continent, the Supreme Pontiff directs \nwarm thought and wishes that this meaningful encounter \n favor the ever more vivid contemplation of the icon of Christ, from \nthe Father, may arouse a growing and incisive evangelical witness, \nmay assure remembrance in prayer and imparts from the heart to the Cardinals, \nbishops, priests and all participants the \nimplored Apostolic Blessing.”<\/p>\n\n

At the end of the convivence, the participating Cardinals have sent the following letter of thanks to the Holy Father:<\/em><\/p>\n\n

“… Full of joy in these places \nwhere the risen Lord has sent his disciples for the \nmission of the Universal Church, we have reflected on the New \nEvangelization of our continent through new ecclesial \nrealities, in particular of the Neocatechumenal Way… \nWe are very grateful for your attention to the liturgical practice of \nthe Way: facing the crisis in Europe of the family, of young people, of \nvocations, we have been able to see the fruits of this Christian \ninitiation, based on listening to the Word of God, in the celebration \n of the Eucharist in small communities and in fraternal communion: \nreconstructed families, with many children, from which numerous \n vocations arise… truly a hope for Europe! As usual, \nevery renewal of the Church is the fruit of a gift of the Holy Spirit, \nwelcomed and defended by Peter.<\/p>\n\n

The prophetic words spoken by John Paul II at the V Symposium of the Episcopal Conferences of Europe (1985<\/em>), \n that the Church in order to re-evangelize Europe must \u201creturn to \nvery first apostolic model \u201d, have been made by you with the \nsending the first 7 priests for the “Missio ad gentes<\/em>“, \n each accompanied by 3 families with their numerous children. The \nexperience of priests, families and their children is very \npositive: they are happy, full of zeal, and they are doing a great \nwork among the unbaptized. Many of us want to start \nthis “Missio ad gentes<\/em>” in our dioceses…”<\/p>\n\n
