Rome, 04\/23\/2018<\/strong>.- The \nThe Neocatechumenal Way held a meeting on Sunday, April 22, in the \nBasilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls where the missionary destinations were received by \n25 communities that will be sent on mission by Pope Francis<\/strong> next Saturday, May 5, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Way in Rome.<\/p>\n\n

The meeting was led by the international team responsible for the Way,Kiko<\/strong> Arg\u00fcello<\/strong>, Mar\u00eda Ascensi\u00f3n Romero<\/strong> and Fr Mario Pezzi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

It was attended by the communities that \nthey have already finished the Way and have solemnly renewed the baptismal \npromises and parishes that requested the help of these \ncommunities and their willingness to host them.<\/p>\n\n

During the celebration, Arg\u00fcello recalled that<\/strong> “the Way ends evangelizing, going to those far from the peripheries.”<\/p>\n\n

The\n The initiator of the Way also warned of the problem of settling and \nlosing zeal for evangelizing: \u201cWhen you settle you enter a \nkind of disease: lukewarmness \u201d.<\/p>\n\n

“The lukewarm has lost his zeal, he does not want \ngo preach on the streets but you would rather stay home watching \nthe television. It is also horrible to lose zeal for presbyters,\n catechists, bishops … But when we are sent to a post, on behalf\n of the Church, this danger ceases because we are not living our \nown life, but we live the life of Another (Christ) who has sent us there and\n this protects the roots of our faith and prevents us from settling in.”<\/p>\n\n

In the celebration, the Gospel of St. John 17, 18-26 was proclaimed and Arg\u00fcello<\/strong> announced the Kerigma.<\/p>\n\n

Audience with Pope Francis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

On April 19, Pope Francis<\/strong> received the international team responsible for the Neocatechumenal Way at the Vatican.<\/p>\n\n

The main objective of the meeting was \nspeak about the 50th anniversary of the Way that will be commemorated with a great \ngathering, presided by the Pope in Tor Vergata on May 5.<\/p>\n\n

The Neocatechumenal Way will celebrate a \ngreat international meeting in Rome on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its\n arrival in Rome, next Saturday May 5 at Tor Vergata.<\/p>\n\n

About 150 thousand people will participate in it\n from all over the world and from the 5 continents, and the \n135 nations in which the Way is established, in addition to cardinals,\n bishops and other persons.<\/p>\n\n

During the event, Pope Francis<\/strong> will send 34 new missio ad gentes<\/em><\/strong> that,\n at the request of many other bishops, they will evangelize in secularized \nareas or with little presence of the Church, in cities around the\n world.<\/p>\n\n

Francis will send these 25 communities of the parishes of Rome<\/strong> – which\n have completed this Christian initiation – and have made themselves available \nto be sent to parishes in the periphery where their help has been \nrequested to call those away from the faith.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
