In the course of a private hearing in the Clementine Hall, the Holy Father has given the crucifix to twelve families leaving for South America to live in the midst of the poor, being witness to the Gospel in the “Young Towns” around Lima (Peru), among the miners in Coronel (Chile) and in the the lake dwellings (stilt houses) of Guayaquil (Ecuador).
