María Ascensión Romero
María Ascensión Romero Antón joined the international team of the Neocatechumenal Way in January of 2018, after the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life of the Holy See requested it as established in the Statutes of the Way.
Maria Ascension was born on May 27, 1960 in Tudela, Navarra (Spain). She is the third of four brothers and studied in the school of the Company of Mary (the same one in which Carmen Hernández studied). Later he moved to Soria to study teaching and there, at age 19, she met the Neocatechumenal Way.
She walked several years in a Neocatechumenal Community of Tudela until she moved to Madrid to work as a teacher, where continued in the Way in the parish of Santa Catalina de Siena.
In the WYD of Santiago de Compostela with St. John Paul II, she felt the call to the evangelization, which she confirmed in the Zaragoza Vocational Meeting with the initiators of the Way.
In 1991, she completed her first itinerant mission in the Diocese of Ciudad Real (Spain). In 1992, she left for the mission to the former U.S.S.R. , where she will remain 25 years evangelizing in various countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.
On February 2, 2018, she was officially named a member of the International Team of the Neocatechumenal Way.
